Agentic AI systems are leaving pilot status behind. On June 18, 2026, teams at the third GovTech Prompt-a-thon will develop prototypes for autonomous agents in government administration — decision drafting, appeal processing, citizen communication. What starts there as an experiment is something SMBs are already deploying in production with Amazing Agents today: calls, inquiries, documents — automated, GDPR-compliant, live.

What is the GovTech Prompt-a-thon 2026?

On June 18, 2026, Wolters Kluwer Germany is hosting its third event at the WKEINS site in Hürth (LTO, 6/3/2026, advertorial). Interdisciplinary teams — students, young professionals, practitioners from public administration, IT, law, and project management — spend a day developing prototypes for agentic systems in public administration.

The theme spectrum: intelligent process automation, citizen-centered communication, and responsible AI use. The event is free, and teams are mentored by practice, tech, and administration experts. The jury includes Valentina Kerst, Thorsten Rode, Dirk Blauhut, and Arne Schömann, among others.

Burkhardt Vitt, Associate Director Public Digital & Customer Solutions at Wolters Kluwer, sums up the central question:

"How can ideas be developed further so they can actually be deployed in government agencies?"

The grand prize shows this is meant seriously: the winning team gets to further develop their prototype together with the JUPITER AI Factory at the Jülich Research Centre — on Europe's first exascale supercomputer.

Why is government now betting on agentic systems?

The digitalization of German public administration is barely making progress. According to Bitkom, only 349 of 579 mandated administrative services are digitally available — and only 165 of those are standardized nationwide. Not a single federal state exceeds 49 percent. At the same time, 9 out of 10 citizens want more speed in municipal digitalization. The OZG 2.0 has been in force since July 2024 — it establishes an enforceable right to digital government services starting in 2029. The pressure is rising.

That's why, on March 9, 2026, the Federal Ministry for Digital Affairs and State Modernization (BMDS) launched the Agentic AI Hub: 18 pilot projects, 10 startups, 17 municipalities — selected from around 400 startup and 200 municipal applications (BMDS, 3/9/2026). Federal Minister Karsten Wildberger put the ambition unambiguously: "Germany doesn't just want to discuss AI — it wants to do it."

The use cases: autonomous agents that check applications for completeness, request missing documents, analyze records, and provide recommendations for administrative decisions. Burkhardt Vitt describes exactly this lane — with "real efficiency gains in decision drafting or in processing appeals."

The Prompt-a-thon in Hürth is part of a growing ecosystem: the AI Village on the euronova campus connects around 600 AI startups, KI.NRW coordinates technology transfer from Fraunhofer IAIS, and the Gateway Factory brings deep-tech scaleups from Cologne, Aachen, and Düsseldorf to market with up to €10 million in federal funding.

How does the JUPITER AI Factory strengthen European AI sovereignty?

The Prompt-a-thon's grand prize makes the difference clear: the winning team won't be working on a US cloud, but on JUPITER — Europe's first exascale supercomputer at the Jülich Research Centre. JUPITER delivers over 1 exaFLOP/s of computing power, ranks 4th on the global TOP500 list, and runs on renewable energy (German Federal Government, 9/5/2025).

The JUPITER AI Factory was funded with around €55 million — by the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking, the Federal Ministry of Research, and the science ministries of North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse (Jülich Research Centre). It's one of four German AI Factories under the EU initiative. The deliberate bridge: an innovation idea shouldn't end up in a drawer, but become a productive administrative tool on a European, sovereign compute base.

For SMBs, that means: European computing infrastructure for AI already exists. GDPR-compliant, sovereign alternatives aren't a promise for the future — they're already available.

What can SMBs learn from the GovTech Prompt-a-thon?

From idea to application — not in tomorrow's government agency, but in today's SMB.

The Prompt-a-thon's themes sound familiar: process automation, citizen communication, agentic systems. For government agencies, these are pilot projects with a 3-month horizon. For tradespeople, financial advisors, and SMBs, it's everyday business.

Amazing Agents deploys exactly these building blocks in production. Our phone agent Ben takes calls, qualifies inquiries, and routes them — around the clock, GDPR-compliant, with no hold queue. Government agencies receive more than 120 million citizen calls per year — the unified government hotline 115 alone logs over a million calls a year in Berlin across 120 lines. What's only now being tested there with agentic pilots is already working at trades businesses and financial advisory firms.

The difference: government agencies launch pilot projects. You launch in 14 days.

How does getting started with Amazing Agents work?

You don't need an exascale data center or a funding program. Amazing Agents delivers ready-made AI agents for the tasks slowing down your day-to-day: phone, email, research, documentation, outreach.

  1. Book a strategy call — 30 minutes, free. We analyze which tasks can be automated right away.
  2. Configure the agent — industry knowledge, tone, and processes get set up. Not a generic tool, but your digital employee.
  3. Live in 14 days — setup, testing, production. You get hours back, starting day one.
What are agentic systems?

Agentic AI systems act independently: they recognize tasks, make decisions, execute steps, and learn from feedback. Unlike classic chatbots, they resolve multi-step workflows — from taking a call to reviewing documents.

Can a trades business really benefit from AI agents?

Yes. Small teams especially spend a disproportionate amount of time on phone calls, scheduling, and quote requests. An agent like Ben takes over exactly these tasks — without additional headcount costs.

Is Amazing Agents GDPR-compliant?

All agents run EU-hosted. Data never leaves the European Economic Area.

What does getting started cost?

A strategy call is free. Agent packages start at transparent fixed prices — no hidden costs, no long contract terms.

What does the GovTech Prompt-a-thon have to do with my company?

The Prompt-a-thon shows that agentic AI has grown out of the experimental phase. What government agencies test as a pilot project, you can deploy today — with less bureaucracy and a faster setup.
